Hello Subscribers:

Happy Sunday.! I try to post my Sunday newsletter at 8 am each Sunday, but I slept in! I hope you are cozy as we finally welcome you to the Twin Cities in the fall. Temperatures are predicted to drop, and peak leaf viewing will be here this week. Stanley and I are cozy in bed with my lap desk, reflecting on the last fourteen crazy days since I got home from Croatia. It was so fun, of course, but it explains why I am still in bed at 9 am on a Sunday.

What I am Thinking about:

One of the meetings I had was to talk about my website and the SEO optimization of recipes on my site. Turns out that Google only likes certain recipes and if you publish too many recipes it doesnt find of “high quality searchable content” it dings you for them. So what gets published has to be more strategic - which in a word is F’d.

As a creator, and someone who loves food, I live it. I am cooking and sharing with you in real time as I make things. When I get excited about recipes - I want to share them. I am not a bot just churning out content for Google. The very idea of it is sort of soul sucking actually. So… here is what I am doing about it.

  • I have created an archive of recipes that have been shared to Substack first. Many are exclusive Subscriber recipes that have been categorized so you can easily find your favorites like the Zuppa Toscanna Soup.
