I should have been going to Ixtapa, Mexico, at the airport, but Covid decided to visit us instead. Kurt tested positive, and while I am still testing negative, we postponed our trip until Wednesday of this week when his Covid isolation period is over, and we are sure mine hasn’t begun. (BTW, Sun Country was lovely and accommodating to the changes.)
What I am baking
When I shared with my neighbor that I would be home 4 days longer than anticipated, she shared that she was craving Italian Dunkers out of nostalgia for her school lunch days. She made them for her toddler, who liked them so much that she said, “can I have more Toddler dunkers?” which gave us a good laugh.
This got me thinking, and I eventually shared the Bloomington Schools Cowboy Bread recipe with her. This bread was a quick snack with a crispy crackling crust of sugar and was usually served on our tray with spaghetti. A 35-year-old “cookbook” contains the recipes from my school lunch days. I shared the “Cowboy Bread” with her and now with you.
